President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law on March 23, 2010. The law puts in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will roll out over four years and beyond. Key parts of the law will take effect as of January 1, 2014. Most importantly, all Americans will have access to the Health Insurance Marketplace.
The Marketplace is designed to help you find health insurance that fits your budget, while allowing you to compare plans based on price, benefits, quality and other features that may be important to you. In addition, many people may qualify for free or low-cost health insurance programs or get a break on costs through the Marketplace.
